Flu Jab

Had to get up early this morning so we could go get a Flu shot. Me because of the MS and Mr.Fuzzy because we live together. Had to yell (well not yell but not far from it), at the receptionist as she was arguing over the phone that I don't get one for free even after we said my MS nurse said that I should get one and that it was listed on many sites and in pamphlets handed out. Very crappy attitude all round. She phoned back after saying she was going to check and the appointment was made, still with the crappy attitude though. Since they have gotten new reception staff this last year you really get shitty service :/

We have had to fight to get repeat prescriptions after they told me I shouldn't be needing another one for a month, pretty much hinting that I'm either selling the meds or taking too many. Trust me. If I was taking too many of them I would be a zombie or not awake at all. They are not doctors. They have no right saying I should be not be taking something. (hmmm I'm in a catty ranty mood :p)

Anyway...Art!

Start of White Knight. Need to lighten the white areas but going to wait until more of this is done. I don't want to make them too white so that they stand out too much. More of a dark grey colour for this horse then a light one. The paper is Navy blue, little washed out on my screen.

I wetted down the flower drawing from yesterday, now have to wait until its completely dry before using coloured pencils. I like the abstract look on it, but the petals do need to be defined more for the picture to make any sense :p

  1. How rude but I know the feeling of receptionist thinking they own the place. It makes me laugh that in the waiting area they have a poster saying not to be abusive to them or else we would lose our place at the surgery when it is always the receptionist who provokes it.

  2. those posters make me laugh too. We don't put up with any kind of attitude anymore. Just ask to speak to their boss and don't leave until we do. We never go there wanting to complain, but it does seem to be happening more and more :/ I wouldn't care so much about the attitude problems if they could do the job they were hired for properly in the first place.

  3. don't get me started on doctors receptionist!!!!
i seriously lost it with one before who pointed out she was a trained medical receptionist, and i said i am a qualified nurse and she was talking rubbish and spoke to surgery manager! this dame now hides when she sees me!

now this drawing is another beautiful piece I am gonna love watching develop!

  5. I go through these arguments every year - just glad that we haven't had all the scare-mongering about bird flu this year killing everyone off, so all the supplies have gone before I get there (as has happened before). I tell them it would cost the NHS a hell of a lot more to fix me up if I get flu (and the usual complications) than a £10 vaccine. Still, if the worse came to the worse, I would darn well go without a few meals to pay for one, seriously anything to avoid 3 months of pneumonia and seizures!

  6. Don't listen to receptionists! I only ever once called out a Doc over the holidays and it was to Cal on boxing day. The receptionist gave me a right hard time but I was adamant. When the Doc came it was touch & go whether he was going to admit him to hospital....as it was he also called back later in the day. Just be polite and firm. Methinks the power goes to their heads!

White Knight will be as spectatular as Dark Knight! These are just great, Jennifer!

  8. I didn't know I was supposed to get a flu shot if I had MS. Nobody told me, but when I think about it, it makes good sense. I really should avoid anything that will give me a fever and make my symptoms worse.

  9. I didn't know either until one of my MS nurses told us. Hopefully I don't get ill now, nothing worse than when you are sick and can't move :/

  10. These people always seem to have a different set of rules for themselves....it's fine for them to be rude but don't dare be rude to them.
